BRAD JOHNSON — LUKE DAVIES-UNIACKE ($189,300, MID)

“I think Luke Davies-Uniacke will have a brilliant year for North Melbourne. I know North might struggle a little bit so he might get more games so I think he will be a good Supercoach special. Load up on him early and sell him out so you can get a star in when the season really hots up.”

PAUL ROOS — CAM RAYNER ($202,800, MID)

“You’re looking for a team that’s a bottom side and I say that with respect to the Lions because they’re going to want to play their kids, they’re going to want to give them a go. Rayner’s got a big body, looks like he’s a ready-made AFL player. I think he’ll still struggle a little bit as young kids do but he’d probably be my smoky going into the season.”

DERMOTT BRERETON — GRANT BIRCHALL ($277,100, DEF)

“Birchall will be cheap and he’s going to have some big games. And his poorer games, he’s still going to get you high 80s. I know he’s injured and will miss Round 1, but he’s still worth it.”

NICK RIEWOLDT — HUNTER CLARK ($175,800, MID)

“I think my old mate Joey Montagna has made a great decision handing over No. 11 to Hunter Clark. He’s shown great form in JLT so far so he’s a sneaky bargain.”

MATTHEW PAVLICH — DANIEL VENABLES ($123,900, FWD)

“A few players have impressed across the JLT series, in particular over in the west Daniel Venables from West Coast. He looks like Luke Shuey in many ways and will play early on so he’s one to look out for.”

BOB MURPHY — CAM RAYNER ($202,800, MID)

“I know he’s the No. 1 pick but I actually think Cam Rayner from Brisbane. He trained with us at the Bulldogs about 18 months ago and there was a couple of little moments where you thought for a kid that age he’s going to be something special and his body looks like he can handle footy early on.”

JASON DUNSTALL — HUNTER CLARK ($175,800, MID)

“I think he’s going to be a natural player at AFL level in his first season.”

MARK RICCIUTO — LACHLAN MURPHY ($102,400, DEF)

“We’ve got a young kid who’s been showing a bit in Adelaide in Lachlan Murphy. He might be a small forward for Adelaide to sit alongside Eddie Betts and learn that role now that Charlie Cameron’s gone so he might be a very cheap Supercoach player.”

DAVID KING — STEFAN GIRO ($102,400, MID)

“I go to my Champion Data buddies when we need an absolute steal and (Glenn) Luff is big on Stefan Giro, a rookie-listed kid from Fremantle who just runs all day. He looks untidy at times but gee I think he gets some opportunity at Fremantle.”

JONATHAN BROWN — JORDAN DE GOEY ($434,300, MID/FWD)

“I like Jordan De Goey if they can play him off a halfback flank or through the midfield for the Pies. As long as the Pies don’t keep him suspended until about Round 10, I think De Goey’s a player that is worth watching.”
