CYGNET star recruit Thor Boscott’s suspension might be the talk of the Huon, but it was of no interest to Huonville coach Tim Lamprill ahead of the preliminary final against Lindisfarne.
Following a complaint lodged by Huonville, Boscott was suspended for two matches for a dangerous tackle in the second semi-final win over the Lions that put The Port in its first grand final in 15 years.
Cygnet has appealed the ban with the matter to be heard on Tuesday night.
But Lamprill would not comment on the issue before the clash with the Two Blues that can either end their season or set up a mouth-watering all Huon rematch in the grand final.
“It had nothing to do with me, the committee lodged that concern with the SFL, that’s as far as it goes and the SFL is dealing with it,” Lamprill said.
“At the end of the day we have to get past this week.
“If we don’t get past this week there is no next week.
“So our focus is Lindisfarne this week who we have to play four good quarters of footy to get over.”
But there is no doubt the ban has got people fired up in the Huon, with Cygnet forced to post a request on its Facebook page as news of Boscott’s suspension became public.
“Our Club understands this is a very emotive issue but we ask all our supporters to treat everyone with respect and let the process take its course,” the message said.
“Can we please not message opposition clubs but focus on supporting the Cygnet Football Club.”
