THE SFL tribunal has dropped a bombshell on Cygnet by suspending star recruit Thor Boscott for two matches for a dangerous tackle, meaning the club’s star recruit will miss the grand final on Saturday-week.
Cygnet did not take the controversial decision laying down.
It has already told the SFL it would appeal the judiciary’s decision for the incident, entering time-on in the third term of The Port’s win over Huonville Lions last Saturday.
The appeal will be heard four days before the grand final, to be played against the winner of Saturday’s preliminary final between Huonville and reigning premier Lindisfarne.
An official statement from the SFL on Wednesday said: “Thor Boscott [Cygnet] was referred for a dangerous tackle in the SFL match between Cygnet and Huonville on October 3, 2020.
“In accordance with State and Territory Tribunal Guidelines 2020, the SFL determined player Boscott be charged with rough conduct. The incident was graded as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.
“Player Boscott was offered a base sanction of two matches, reduced to one match with an early guilty plea.
“The Cygnet Football Club have rejected the offer and the case will be heard by the independent tribunal on Tuesday.”
