Collingwood’s Darcy Moore reveals cheeky pitch from Richmond stars to make move to Punt Road

Richmond stars didn’t miss the chance to make a pitch to Collingwood’s Darcy Moore during the bushfire relief match, with Victorian teammate Bachar Houli making an enticing offer to the star defender.

Darcy Moore has more than just a potential new team on offer should he choose to leave Collingwood at the end of this season.

The star defender has revealed that there might be a handy feed on offer, too.

Moore, who represented Victoria in Friday night’s State of Origin bushfire clash alongside key Tigers Trent Cotchin, Dustin Martin, Tom Lynch and Bachar Houli, revealed that there had been “a little bit” of needling from the premiership crew about him potentially moving to Punt Road.

“Bachar was telling me about the Lebanese barbecues that he hosts,” Moore laughed.

“And I said ‘how do I get an invite?’, and he said ‘you’ve got to come play for us’.”

Moore said he was more than prepared for a year of speculation about his future as the end of his contract at Collingwood draws closer.

But it is a test, he conceded.

“How do I prepare for it is the last three or four years that I’ve had,” he said.

“I’ve sort of dealt with it before, it’s nothing new to me.

“As a person, it really tests your focus and your concentration, but once you get amongst the boys … the team that we’ve got at the Pies is so tight knit that we don’t focus on individuals. You really do sink back into the crowd.

“It’s really like water off a duck’s back for me at this point. It’s what your manager is for, to take care of it.”
