THE results of an internal investigation into alleged “inappropriate comments” by umpires to players in a TSL match between Lauderdale and the Tigers last Saturday should be known later this week.
The TSL umpire’s manager is conducting the investigation after Lauderdale submitted an incident referral after losing a fiery four-point thriller at Lauderdale Oval.
At the same game, Lauderdale player Nicholas Raglione was reported for using abusive language towards an umpire.
The Match Review Office assessed the details of the incident as a “low-level offence” and Raglione copped a reprimand.
Tiger Tom Wright was booked for rough conduct on Lauderdale whiz Allen Christensen, which instigated a melee between both clubs.
The MRO decided the rough conduct did not warrant a penalty, but gave Wright a reprimand for a “low-level offence” for instigating a melee.
Tiger onballer Ed Cole was cited for allegedly striking Bomber Ed Stanley in the nose during the melee.
From the evidence provided, the MRO determined it was an accidental head clash, which did not warrant a report.
As for the all-in melee, the MRO handed that investigation over to TSL management and a results should be known in the next few days.
Players from North Hobart and North Launceston were also cited for instigating a melee early in the third quarter of their match at North Hobart Oval.
The MRO also sent this incident to be investigated by TSL management.
In the same game, won by North Launceston by 20 points, Northern Bombers forward Zac Burt was reported for “carelessly striking” Keegan Ryan (North Hobart) during a marking contest in the third quarter.
The action was graded as a “classifiable offence” and deemed as careless conduct, with medium impact and high contact.
Burt copped a two-match suspension, which was reduced to one when he accepted an early guilty plea.
It makes him unavailable for North Launceston’s clash with Clarence at UTas Stadium on Saturday.
