Devils boys ready for NAB League opener against Calder Cannons

Devils’ captain Sam Banks will lead the charge against Calder Cannons in NAB League opener in Launceston.

TASMANIAN captain Sam Banks says the Devils are “primed for a big year” as they prepare for their opening match of the boy’s NAB League against the Calder Cannons at Windsor Park today.

While the girls Devils are on a break, the Devils start their campaign on home soil.

“We’ve got a very good group this year,” Banks said.

“We played North Launceston in a practice match a couple of weeks ago and managed to get over them.

“They’re one of the better TSL teams so that was a good results.

“We’ve had a pretty hard and quick team so I think we will be up there with some of the better teams in the competition.”

The Cannons were pipped by Western Jets in their opening game and went down by 32 to against Eastern Ranges in their second outing.

The Devils hope it’s not third time lucky for the Melbourne team.

“They’ve played a couple of games and got done both times so it will be interested to see how we go against them,” Banks said.

“They will be a good team, no doubt, so we look forward to the challenge.”
