IT is the highest price paid for a house in this prestigious suburb in years.
The 2484sq m property at No.19 Alexandra Esplanade, Bellerive has been sold for $2.4m by Ray White Hobart.
Agency managing director Nick Cowley said there was huge interest in the property.
He said the hot property attracted “next level numbers”: 46 inquiries and 15,000 page views online.
“Almost every inquiry came from people based interstate,” Mr Cowley said.
“They see that the value for money here is still so good.
“A property in one of our best suburbs, $2.4m, almost waterfront, 2500sq m — that’s a proposition that’s almost unheard of.
“Imagine that property in Bondi. The price would be astronomical.
“Mainlanders come here looking for a “harbour view”, and they can afford to be near the water when living in Hobart.”

Mr Cowley said the purchaser of this property is a developer from Queensland who was introduced to the property through his business partner, Stuart Benson.
It’s too soon to say exactly what could be built in Alexander Esp, but safe to say it will be high-end, Mr Cowley said.
“Hobart is crying out for two types of development. We need top quality luxury homes for Baby Boomers to downsize into from their large family homes. And we need affordable options for young people,” Mr Cowley said.
No.19 is positioned between two beaches. Alongside the substantial land, there is also an expertly updated 1950s family-sized house.
Prior to No.19 Alexandra’s sale, Bellerive’s most recent $2m-plus sales were No.25 Kangaroo Bay Dr in 2022, which transacted at $2,652,317, and in April this year, No.14 Victoria Esp on the waterfront sold for $2.365m.
The suburb record has been held by No.24 Victoria Esp since mid-2019, when it sold for $2.95m.
