The two young men killed in a horror accident when their car went off a cliff in remote WA have been identified.

Matthew Farr, 22, and Louis Eeles, also 22, both died after a late-night four-wheel driving trip went horribly wrong.

They had been camping with a group of six friends at a remote WA beach in Perth’s Midwest region, about 10km north of Horrocks Beach.

Mr Farr and Mr Eeles decided to go for a drive with another friend late at night, but at about 3.40am on Sunday the trio’s Nissan Patrol went off a cliff.

It plunged more than 20 metres down the rock face.

One of the young men survived the fall, but Mr Farr and Mr Eeles died at the scene.

The surviving 21-year-old, who is believed to have been wearing a seatbelt, managed to clamber up the cliff to raise the alarm.

Family and friends have begun sharing tributes commemorating Mr Farr’s life, including his brother Phillip.

“I love you my brother, I know you guys will still be kicking up there,” he wrote.

Another loved one, Amy Ahearn, posted from Mr Farr’s Facebook account.

“I wanted to let everyone know that Matthew Farr and one of his friends has passed away in a four wheel driving accident in the early hours of Sunday morning,” she wrote.

“We would like to thank everyone who assisted in that critical time and thank you for all of the messages.

“We also want to extend our condolences to all the families involved.

“The boys will be deeply missed.”

The survivor of the crash was taken to the Royal Perth Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said they had received a call at 3.50am on Sunday, while the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said a call had been received at 3.58am.

The RAC rescue helicopter was sent to assist emergency services at the scene, with volunteers from Geraldton, Kalbarri and Northampton all at the scene.

Major Crash investigators are conducting an examination of the scene and are appealing for anyone with information regarding this matter to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
