Man injured in bizarre suburban Perth incident hit with 13 charges

A man who allegedly went on the run for a day while armed with a rifle is facing 13 charges, including deprivation of liberty, after an incident in a leafy Perth suburb.

A man, has been charged with a string of alleged offences, including deprivation of liberty, after police were called to a home in an affluent suburb in Perth’s north east.

Blake Unkovich, 28, was wanted for questioning over an alleged disturbance involving a man and a woman on Hodnet Bend, The Vines, on Wednesday morning.

Local police, the police air wing and the Tactical Response Group (TRG) were sent to the incident after it was reported a gun was involved.

A woman was found at a property on Wednesday, but police allege Mr Unkovich had fled the scene holding a firearm.

Mr Unkovich had been injured in Wednesday's incident, and was taken for medical treatment soon after his arrest.

He was located about 20km away in the suburb of Kiara on Thursday, where he was arrested and taken for medical treatment after suffering an injury in the incident the day before.

WA Police on Friday revealed Mr Unkovich had been charged with 13 alleged offences.

These include two charges of deprivation of liberty; threats to kill in circumstances of aggravation; two counts of unlawful act or omission with intent to harm; two counts of attempted aggravated armed robbery; being armed in a way that may cause fear; two counts of being unlicensed and possessing a gun or ammunition; threats to kill; possess drug paraphernalia; and possessing a controlled drug.

He was refused bail and is due before Midland Magistrates Court on Friday.
