The woman mauled by three dogs in a vicious backyard attack in Dandenong on Thursday has been identified as Jordan Garrett, the partner of the dogs’ owner, who lives at the property.

Ms Garrett’s boyfriend is set to face court next month over a separate vicious attack just weeks ago and it has now been reported Ms Garrett had even been attacked earlier this week.

Neighbours claim to have seen Ms Garrett running and screaming from the property in the days leading up to Thursday’s mauling, after being set upon by one of the animals.

Greater Dandenong Council on Friday revealed that Ms Garrett’s partner is due to front court in November over a previous “dog-on-dog attack” near the home in July.

Several neighbours of the Ross St home said they had reported the pack of dogs to council in the past.

Council chief executive Jacqui Weatherill said her officers had previously attended the home and taken action against the owner.

“We can acknowledge that Council has received numerous complaints and concerns from neighbours about dogs at this property in the past,” she said in a statement.

“We have previously taken action in response to those concerns and visited the property.

“In relation to a dog-on-dog attack back in July, we have commenced a prosecution against another person who lives at that address. This matter is due to go to court in November.”

Ms Weatherill said her council has seen a 250 per cent increase in infringement notices dished out to animal owners in the past two years.

“This reflects how seriously we take these matters,” she said.

“We want to work constructively with our community, and we also don’t shy away from taking enforcement.”

Ms Garrett remained at the Dandenong Hospital in a critical condition on Friday.

The Herald Sun understands the victim’s boyfriend owned the three dogs who were shot and killed by police.

A woman screamed “I’m dying, please save me” as she was being mauled by three dogs who were shot and killed by police.

Police were called to the single-storey brick home on Ross St in Dandenong following reports of the atttack about 9.50am Thursday.

Officers arrived while the woman, now identified as Ms Garrett, was still being attacked and deployed OC spray but it failed to deter the three dogs.

Those officers then blasted more than a dozen bullets into the animals to save the woman from being killed.

Graphic video, which the Herald Sun chose not to publish, showed two of the dogs mauling the victim as she sat helpless in her backyard.

Both of her arms were covered in blood as a white dog clutched at her right elbow.

A man was heard screaming “stop” while another whistles at them.

CCTV from a nearby home captured the sound of at least 16 shots being fired into the dogs shortly after.

Ms Garrett was rushed to the Dandenong Hospital and was on Friday fighting for her life in a critical condition.

It is believed the dogs that attacked Ms Garrett were three of five dogs at the property.

Neighbours say they heard Ms Garrett and two men screaming for help at the time.

They said the residents of the home scaled their fence and threw objects at the dogs in the backyard in an attempt to distract them.

“She was screaming so badly, she said ‘I’m dying, please save me’,” one neighbour said.

“I noticed the woman say ‘the dogs are killing me, I’m dying, I’m dying’.

“I heard the noises of the gun when they shot the dogs.

“The dogs are very big, we’ve seen them before and they are totally free outside. We’ve (made) so many complaints.

“They (have) attacked so many times here along the street.”

Another nearby resident said they were woken by the sound of gunshots.

“There were gunshots continuously firing,” she said.

“I really feel bad for her.”

Neighbours said police have been called to the home on at least one occasion in the past.

In a separate attack, an elderly woman was set upon by another pack of dogs in Sunbury in late August.

A day later, the same dogs mauled a young mother who was walking with her baby.

The three dogs were later euthanised.
