A swift water team was called to help rescue 11 people bogged in bushland after heavy rains soaked parts of Townsville with more than 120mm overnight.

Emergency crews responded reports of a group of people possibly in danger after their vehicles got bogged in bushland near the Gromac Pinnacle Quarry on Gumlow Rd in Bohle Plains at 5.45am on Sunday.

It comes after Townsville copped another drenching overnight, with Alligator Creek recording 123mm in the past 24 hours to 9am Sunday.

Elsewhere in Townsville, there was 112m recorded near Woodstock, 100mm at Whites Creek, 95mm at Upper Stuart, 91mm at Mt Bohle, 77mm at Townsville Airport, 69mm at South Tonwsville, 65mm at Annandale, 57mm at Kirwan, 50mm at Bushland Beach.

Police said initial investigations suggest that a car got stuck along a 4WD track before another car stopped to render assistance and also got stuck.

There were concerns for the group due to flooding in surrounding creeks in the area, and a swift water rescue team was dispatched to help with the rescue.

A group of 11 people were removed safely, with no one seriously injured.
