A beloved mum had just bravely overcome a fight with cancer before she was allegedly murdered at the hands of her ex-partner on Palm Island.
Loyla Morgan, 39, will be laid to rest by her relatives and friends at a funeral service at St Anthony’s Church on Palm Island this Wednesday.
The mother of three has been remembered as a beloved member of the close-knit island community who recently battled breast cancer and only just finished her last round of chemotherapy before her unfortunate death.
Police charged a 36-year-old man with murder (domestic violence offence) over Ms Morgan’s death last month.
The man was remanded in custody and is due to appear next before Townsville Magistrates Court on November 5.
It will be alleged that emergency services were called to a Clump Road residence on Palm Island on September 1 following reports a woman had sustained a life-threatening head injury.
She was flown to Townsville University Hospital for treatment, however she sadly passed away from her injuries on September 3.
