THE Hobart Showground Sunday Market opens again this Sunday (July 5) after a nearly four month closure forced by the coronavirus lockdown.
Market organisers, the Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania, say stall holders are being briefed on hygiene requirements under the COVID-safety plan, but the plan should not prove too intrusive for market goers.
More than 60 stall holders have bumped in to the covered space, and a COVID-19 safety plan has been enacted to ensure strict hygiene for stall holders as they set up for Sunday’s market, including logged temperature checks on arrival.
This market will include fruit and veg, plants, preserves and cakes, tools, electronic games, vinyl records, antiques, bric-a-brac, jewellery, knitted goods, baby clothes, AFL giftware and much more.
The RAST said the market usually attracts about 100,000 visitors a year to its 150 stalls.
Stalls are being spaced apart and there will be aisle monitoring to meet social distancing requirements.
People counters will ensure only 250 people are in the spacious building at any one time.
