INDIE punks A Swayze and the Ghosts have a reputation for rowdy and high energy live performances.
So performing to seated audiences was not how they imagined launching their debut album.
However, the Hobart four piece just found itself adding two new shows to its Tasmanian launch tour after all the tickets to their Hobart and Launceston shows later this month were snapped up.
The long awaited album Paid Salvation dropped last month to the excitement of the band’s rapidly growing global fanbase.
It featured celebrated singles like Suddenly, Cancer, Mess of Me and Connect to Consume, which also featured on the recent remastered release of video game Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2.
Frontman Andrew Swayze said he would have choked on his drink and laughed if someone asked him if he was up for playing a show in front of 200 seated punters a year ago.
“We are by no measure a band to sit down for, but the absurdity that these shows will undoubtedly present is a rare something we and you will probably love,” he said.
“We’re chuffed to be able to play live again and as always our Tasmanian home crowd will be by far the most raucous – even if they are sitting and the only competitors for this ranking.”
Tickets are now available to catch A Swayze and the Ghosts at Hobart’s Uni Bar on October 16, Launceston’s Royal Oak on October 30 and Devonport’s Pub Rock on November 7.
