Police suspend search for missing man Scott Murphy

Police have suspended a search for a missing man in the state’s North West, as they fail to find signs of him in the wilderness where he went missing.

POLICE have today suspended the search for missing man Scott Murphy in North West Tasmania.

After extensive searching in the Loongana area over several days there has unfortunately been no sign of Mr Murphy.

Inspector Shane LeFevre said a review of the search had been undertaken by experts.

“Considering recent extreme weather conditions and other factors, it is extremely unlikely that Mr Murphy could have survived in that environment,” he said.

“Police have continued to be in close contact with Mr Murphy’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.”

While the search has been suspended, the investigation remains active and police will continue to maintain a presence in the area.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Mr Murphy since Saturday morning is again asked to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444.
