Tasmania Police, SES and civilian volunteers have been searching for Scott Murphy in the Loongana area

Tasmania Police, SES and volunteers on the ground and in the air have spent two days searching for a man reported missing in the state’s North-West.

RESCUE teams and volunteers are continuing to search for a man missing in the state’s North-West.

Tasmania Police said there were now grave concerns for the welfare of Scott Murphy, who was last seen in the Castra Road area on Saturday morning.

Police have spent the weekend conducting extensive searches in the Loongana area for Mr Murphy, using police search and rescue members, SES volunteers, civilian volunteers on motorbikes and horses, as well as the police helicopter and a drone.

Residents of Loongana and Nietta/South Nietta have been asked to check sheds and outbuildings on their properties for Mr Murphy.

Mr Murphy is described as about 175cm tall, of medium build and with blue eyes. It is believed he may be wearing dark-coloured pants.

Anyone who has seen Mr Murphy or knows his current whereabouts is asked to contact Tasmania Police on 131 444.
