POLICE continue to investigate after a GoPro camera was taken from the scene of a fatal motorbike crash in Launceston on Sunday and footage of the crash was shared online.

Sergeant Terry Reaney thanked members of the public for “multiple reports” already received since police announced investigators had discovered footage showing the crash between a 28-year-old man on a motorcycle and a car online.

“Police are still actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this crash and again

appeal to the public for the missing GoPro, which was removed from the scene, to be

handed in to police,” Sgt Reaney said.

“Police are aware that a recording from the GoPro has been circulating on social media

which is causing unnecessary stress to the family and loved ones of those involved.

“Not only is the footage crucial evidence in relation to the coronial investigation into the

man’s death, but it’s creating further distress to the deceased man’s family at what is an

already difficult time.”

Any information surrounding the location of the GoPro can been submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers or to the Northern Road and Public Order Services on 6777 3866.
