Man accused of axe-wielding attack on woman represents himself in bail application

A MOWBRAY man accused of an axe-wielding attack on one woman and a knife-wielding attack on another has been refused bail in the Launceston Magistrates Court.
Pushpa Raj Chhetri, 30, represented himself in court on Wednesday via a Nepali speaking interpreter.
He has pleaded not guilty to the serious assault allegations involving the use of weapons, and guilty to others including by pulling the clothing of Soncha Maya Biswa, pushing her and punching her.
Magistrate Simon Brown refused Mr Chhetri’s application for bail and adjourned all matters to May 27 for plea, mention and facts and sentence.
