A BURST water main on Wellington Street has left much of Launceston’s CBD without access to water.
Properties on Wellington St, Paterson St, Tamar St, Charles St, St John St, Cameron St, Centre Wy, Barrow St, and surrounds have been impacted by the “emergency service interruption”.
TasWater issued an alert to customers saying water should be restored by midday.
Motorists travelling on Wellington St are being diverted into the left two lanes while crews are onsite.
The TasWater alert said once water is restored, users may notice their water is temporarily cloudy or dirty in appearance from air and/or sediments being flushed out.
“If this happens, please run an outside tap closest to your water meter for about 10 minutes until the water runs clear,” the alert said.
“If you experience ongoing water quality issues after that, please contact us on 13 6992.”
