UPDATE: TASMANIA Police investigations into an alleged gunshots Taralleah this morning has revealed that it may have been a vehicle backfiring.
“Police at the scene have been unable to locate any witnesses who observed a firearm or saw a firearm being discharged, or any evidence at the scene that a firearm was discharged,” a statement read.
Police have caught up with a potential vehicle that may have been at the scene and a search found no firearms.
INITIAL: Police are responding to reports of gunshots in Tarraleah in Central Tasmania.
The alleged incident took place in the Olinda Drive area at around 8.30am.
“Police are conducting an investigation to ascertain if a firearm was discharged and the circumstances,” a Tasmania Police statement read.
It is unknown at this stage whether the shots were fired at people or property but no injuries have been reported.
