Beer, briskets and legendary rock band Spiderbait will combine forces for a massive Oktoberfest party in Darwin.

This week, it was announced the Territory’s first ever Bar-BQ festival would take place at the Darwin Showgrounds, with Foskey Pavilion to be converted into a huge bar overflowing with food and craft beer with a roaring Spiderbait to perform across the weekend’s festivities.

Spiderbait bass guitarist and vocalist Janet English confirmed the band would feature at the event and encouraged Territorians to “celebrate Black Betty with us”.

“Nothing beats seeing live music, I’m really excited to bring everyone along with us and leave them with a big smile,” she said.

“Feels like we’re throwing a party in the machinery shed on the farm like the old days. We’re super pumped and can’t wait to see y’all out there.”

Spiderbait will be joined by a host of interstate DJs as well, with attendees encouraged to party on in their best outfits.

On Wednesday, local owners of One Mile Brewery Bardy Bayram and Stuart Brown launched the event from their beloved business.

Mr Bayram said he was excited to bring Oktoberfest to Darwin.

“We’ll have a kid’s zone with jumping castles and face painting and all that good stuff,” he said.

“And we’ll also have various beers and spirits and of course food catered for every appetite.”

Mr Bayram said a “smoke competition” had also been planned, with pitmasters set to compete for the title of NT’s BBQ champion.

“We’ll have a judge flying up here from down south and he’ll be judging to the criteria of the Australian Barbecue Alliance.”

Asked if the beer or the briskets would be better, Mr Bayram said he was torn.

“I think they both work hand-in-hand to be honest with you – we’ll have every smoker in Darwin down there so we’ll have something for everyone.”

Territory Bar-BQ Festival will run on October 5 and 6.
