Hottest 100 parties across Darwin were spoilt by the Top End downpour, but one beer garden couldn’t be stopped.
By mid-afternoon, the One Mile Brewery had attracted almost 100 eager patrons, and as the rain intensified the numbers increased.
Co-owners Bardy Bayram and Stuart Brown said the tough weather wouldn’t ruin their passionate beer garden plans.
“I don’t think any weather in the world would have held our people off - (our customers) are hardcore, we’ve just upgraded our sound system so it’s all good here,” Mr Bayram said.
“The Hottest 100 seems to be going well today - hard to predict which song wins or what beer is most popular, but it’s been a steady and fun day so far.”
Mr Brown said despite the weather, more customers were expected to arrive at the Winnellie beer garden.
“It’s been a solid crowd and a lot of locals are used to a bit of rain,” he said.
“I think it’s going to get a bit more boisterous - we’ve got another group coming shortly so I think by the end of it everyone will have been given a good time.”
Scenes were different at the Mindil Beach Casino, where the much-anticipated Infinity Pool party was closed due to the tough weather.
Down the road, local authorities fenced off Mindil Beach from public access, citing the risk of severe weather.
