Woman in a serious condition following Trevallyn crash

Stolen ute crashes in Launceston

LATEST: YESTERDAY afternoon a Northern woman suffered a medical episode, causing her to crash into two parked cars.

At approximately 4:20pm a 57-year-old female from Gravelly Beach has had a medical episodewhile driving her black Holden Barina sedan on the West Tamar Highway at Trevallyn.

The woman, who was travelling in the North bound traffic lanes has run into two unoccupied parked vehicles before coming to a stop.

Members of the public rendered assistance before ambulance personnel and the Tasmania fire service attended.

The woman was extracted from the vehicle and taken to the Launceston General Hospital.

A short time later she was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition.

No other persons were injured as a result of the crash.

Police are investigating the crash and are asking any members of the public who have dash

cam footage or who witnessed the incident to come forward.

EARLIER 5.30PM, AUGUST 18: A WOMAN is in a serious condition and emergency services remain at the scene of a two vehicle crash on West Tamar Highway, Trevallyn.

Crews have been at the scene for about an hour and traffic has been affected on north bound lanes.

Tasmania Police said in a statement that a woman is believed to have suffered a medical episode and is in a serious condition.

Police are urging motorists to avoid the area if possible or expect traffic delays until the scene is cleared.
