A Hobart resident driving on the Brooker Highway at the time of the parade thinks the event should be moved in the interest of safety.
The man said he witnessed a Ford Ranger stop suddenly in the right lane to have a conversation with Toy Run spectators prompting the car behind the ute to brake narrowly avoiding an accident.
“The Brooker is busy enough in general let alone this time of the year,” he said.
Police and emergency services attended the scene of the crash on the southbound lanes of the Brooker Highway.
The highway remained closed from 2.45pm until about 5.30pm.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
