TASMANIA’S new Assistant Commissioner played a big role in responding to one of the state’s most challenging emergencies.
Tasmania Police Commissioner Darren Hine announced the appointment of Adrian Bodnar to the role on Monday, bringing more than three decades’ experience to the position.
Assistant Commissioner Bodnar most recently served as Commander, Operations Support, and as State Control Centre manager during the state’s COVID-19 response.
Commissioner Hine said in this role, he assisted in coordinating a whole of government response to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Assistant Commissioner Bodnar has a strong background in emergency management, including as Police Operations Commander in bushfire and flood emergencies and Commander of the Special Operations Group,” he said.
Assistant Commissioner Bodnar also has about 30 years experience across various specialist investigation roles, such as deployments to East Timor in 2000 and 2006, the Australian Federal Police, Professional Standards command, and Criminal Investigation Branch.
“Assistant Commissioner Bodnar has demonstrated an inclusive and supportive leadership style, embracing collaboration, respect, trust and accountability,” Commander Hine said.
“I congratulate Assistant Commissioner Bodnar on his appointment. He takes up the Specialist Support portfolio, effective immediately.”
