THE worst-kept secret in southern Tasmania has been officially confirmed: Hobart real estate identity Conor Canning will be appearing on reality TV series Bachelor in Paradise.

Canning, 29, makes his debut on the show this Wednesday night at 7.30pm on WIN.

Speculation about Canning’s appearance on Bachelor in Paradise has been rife around Hobart for some time now, and a bachelorette’s recent visit to Tasmania has added to the intrigue.

The third season of Bachelor in Paradise brings back contestants from previous seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette for a second chance at romance in the popular dating series, filmed in Fiji late last year.

In his official bio for the show, Canning describes himself as the “King of Tasmania” and says that while successful in business, he has been unlucky in love.

“I haven’t got my heart set on anyone specifically, but I also haven’t ruled anyone out,” he said.

“All the women I have seen on previous seasons seem amazing and I would be lucky to connect with any of them.”

And there seems to be evidence to suggest a connection was made during his time in Fiji, with Melbourne bachelorette Mary Viturino, 32, posting a series of photos on her Instagram account in February showing her visiting Tasmanian restaurants and tourism spots.

Viturino and Canning are also friends on Facebook.

Unlike most of the contestants on Bachelor in Paradise, Canning has not been on the show before but said he would rely on his underdog status to get him through.

“I’m afraid of rejection but not as much as living in regret,” he said.
