Could you be the next model to walk down the runway at the Tasmanian Fashion Festival?
Now’s your chance, after the festival is holding an open casting call for models to walk for dozens of local labels.
“The Tasmanian Fashion Festival is in its third year and was started to create and bring opportunities to the Tasmanian fashion industry and those associated with it such as models,” fashion stylist and Festival president Tanya Ellis said.
“We have an open casting in Hobart and Launceston so that models of all age, gender and size get the opportunity to do a casting and walk on one of the runways for the festival.
“It’s very inclusive of everyone because the labels that we have in Tasmania, their market is so broad.
“We have plus size labels, mens wear labels, we have labels that cater to a younger female demographic and we have labels that cater to an older female demographic, we have bridal couture, we have evening wear – its really broad and that’s what we need to represent those labels on the runway.”
The Fashion Festival, which will be held in Hobart and Launceston later this year, has the theme of awakening.
“Awakening Tasmania to new things, new labels, new designs, awakening the state to what’s here in our fashion industry,” Ms Ellis said.
While the festival is doing a casting call for models, it’s also looking for more designers and sponsors to come on-board.
A casting call will be held in Hobart on Sunday, May 5, at the Salamanca Arts Centre Meeting Room at 2pm. A casting call will be held in Launceston the following Sunday at Hotel Verge at 2pm.
