MANY hotels have attractions such as water parks and mini golf courses attached to entertain their guests.

But beachside resort Ramada Seven Mile Beach is about to open what is thought to be a Tasmanian first.

Ramada Seven Mile Beach now has a hobby farm and the animals which will call the property home are arriving and settling in.

The 22ha property is home to two alpacas, a mother cow and her calf and a brood of chickens. Mini goats are arriving mid-July and peacocks will roam the grounds.

The resort is part of the Club Wyndham South Pacific collection, a timeshare vacation club with close to 60,000 members.

“Emerging from COVID-19 lockdowns, more and more travellers are craving outdoor experiences, and we are thrilled to be able to give our timeshare club members and guests this added dimension to their Tassie holidays,” said Warren Cullum, vice-president resort operations, Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific.

Resort manager Emma Todd said establishing the hobby farm had been exciting and a great learning experience for someone who had never dealt with cows or alpacas before.

“The animals are pretty spoiled already and settling into their new surrounds,” Ms Todd said.

“I have been in hospitality a long time and have seen water parks and mini golf facilities built but never a hobby farm before.

“There will be daily feeding and petting time, and for a truly unique resort experience, children are encouraged to collect eggs of a morning to cook up with their parents back at their villas.”

Club Wyndham South Pacific attracts more than 45,000 visitors to its Hobart resort each year.

The hobby farm officially opens at the start of the June-July school holidays.
