Polling has now closed for Tasmania’s local government elections and the count has begun across all 29 Tasmanian councils.

The count for councillors could take days, even a week, before they are finalised.

The results for municipalities with a larger pool of candidates, such as Launceston, Clarence and Hobart could take longer to count, depending on how close the votes are.
