Snow, heavy rain and gusty winds: Tasmanians told to prepare for wild weather

Experts have issued weather warnings as heavy rain and snow hits the state. Follow the latest via our LIVE BLOG. 

Heavy rain and wind have lashed the state, while snow has also fallen in numerous parts of Tasmania.

The Bureau of Meteorology warned of heavy rain and possible flooding across Southern Tasmania on Tuesday morning.

The heavy rain and flooding is expected to be followed by cold southerly winds and cooler temperatures.

A severe weather warning for heavy rain is current for the east of the state.

Flood Watches are active for parts of eastern and southeast Tasmania.

Flood advice warnings have also been issued by Tasmania SES for the following areas:
- Monitor Conditions  Brighton, Pontville and surrounds 
- Monitor Conditions Tahune Bridge and surrounds
- Stay Informed Colebrook, Campania, Richmond and Surrounds

Monitor Conditions for Tooms Lake to Longford and surrounds

A Flood Advice – Monitor Conditions has been issued for Tooms Lake to Longford and surrounds by Tasmania SES.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a moderate flood warning for the Macquarie River.
Locations likely to be impacted are: Tooms Lake, Ross, Campbell Town, Epping Forest, Cressy, Woolmers Lane, Longford and surrounds
Minor flooding in the upper Macquarie River above Mt Morriston to Tooms Lake has peaked, however river levels will remain high for an extended period of time.
Road users must take caution with water over the roads.
This catchment is already saturated, therefore river rises will occur quickly.

Monitor Conditions Fingal to Llewellyn and surrounds

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a moderate flood warning for the South Esk River.
Renewed river rises are expected to occur from Monday to Wednesday for the South Esk River. This catchment is saturated and river rises may be more responsive than expected.
Locations likely to be impacted are: Fingal, Avoca, Ormly, Hanleth, Llewellyn and surrounds

During the next few days
– Flooding in nearby streams and rivers is likely.
– Some low-lying properties may become isolated by flood waters.
– Property, livestock, equipment, and crops in low lying areas may be at risk from flood waters.
– Driving conditions may be dangerous.

Monitor Conditions Tooms Lake to Cressy

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a moderate flood warning for the Macquarie River.
Locations likely to be impacted are: Tooms Lake, Ross, Campbell Town, Epping Forest, Cressy, Woolmers Lane and surrounds
