Tassie-born royal Queen Mary has reunited with her son, Crown Prince Christian, at the military barracks where he has been serving for over a month.
The Danish Royal Family was invited to a “visit day” at the barracks where their 19-year-old son has been serving as a military officer at the Guards Regiment in Slagelse.
The family shared pictures of the visit to Instagram which showed the family touring the outside and inside of the barracks.
“For over a month, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince has been serving as a military officer at the Guards Regiment in Slagelse,” the post read.
The photos show King Frederik and Christian embracing, Christian standing in military garb with his peers, Queen Mary and Christian standing next to each other, the Royal Family viewing the outside of the barracks and Queen Mary and Christian touring the inside of a dorm within the barracks.
The post said there was a “long tradition” of Royal House members serving military duty in the Armed Forces.
“His Majesty the King has completed military service himself, and in 1988 the King was, among other things, a platoon leader at the Guards Regiment,” the family’s official Instagram posted on Sunday.
