TOWNHOUSES will be built next to Kingston Town Shopping Centre if approved by council.
A development application for 18 dwellings at 99 Channel Highway, Kingston, has been lodged with Kingborough Council.
The land was recently rezoned to inner residential and approved for subdivision from the shopping centre parent lot.
The proposal has been prepared by All Urban Planning for Revelstoke Building Solutions.
The conjoined townhouses will be built in two rows stepping down the hill from below the shopping centre towards the highway.
Access will be from Kingston Town Drive via a central driveway.
Each two-storey house will feature three bedrooms, a single garage car space, a first floor deck area and a rear courtyard.
The site will include 41 carparking spaces and a 0.8m high retaining was will be built on the highway frontage to level the parking area.
“The proposal represents the efficient use of inner residential land for medium density dwellings in close proximity to the services and amenities of central Kingston,” the application says.
Those wishing to make a submission to the council, advertised as Kingston Town, 37-59 Maranoa Rd, have until January 18 to do so.
