Music lovers are rejoicing after the announcement of a new festival from the team behind the beloved Party in the Paddock.

After posting a crytic teaser to their Facebook page on Wednesday the launch of Party in the Apocalyse was announced overnight - a Covid safe urban rendition of the late and great PITP.

The two day, non-camping music and arts festival will be hosted at Launceston’s Churchill Park over the weekend of December 3 boasting one of the ‘biggest lineups to hit Tassie since Covid began’.

Creators of the event Vibestown said they were excited to bring music festivals back to the state.

“With a fresh perspective on the word ‘Apocalypse’ and it’s origin meaning of fundamental change, it’s never been a more important time for us to keep music, culture and art alive.”

“Festivals, as we know them, have been paused, but it’s time to bring back the essence of the well-loved ‘Party’ once again.”

The full line-up and ticket details are expected to be announced shortly.

Cryptic teaser poster to Tassie-favourite music festival page

Fans of a Launceston music festival, which stopped running last year, have been left scratching their heads after a cryptic teaser was posted to the events Facebook page on Wednesday.

“The apocalypse is coming” was posted to the Party in the Paddock page along with a link to a website asking followers to sign up to “join the apocalypse.”

The page’s profile picture was also changed to the letters PITA.

Party in the Paddock was run by event management company, Vibestown, which this year ran the Basin Concert at Launceston’s York Park and has previously run Royal Eve.

“We, the creators of Party in the Paddock, are bringing you a Tassie summer to remember,” Vibestown’s website said.

It’s not the first time a teaser has been posted to the group’s Facebook page, last year “what’s our plan for NYE?” left music lovers hopeful for a new years event, but nothing was run.

It’s understood more details will be released in the coming days.
