Mayhem on the road continues as crash girl fights for life

A SERIES of crashes, including a four-vehicle pile up and a police car collision, have followed a horror weekend on the state’s roads which left three dead.

A SERIES of crashes, including a four-vehicle pile up and a police car collision, have followed a horror weekend on the state’s roads which left three people dead in 24 hours.

A girl remains fighting for her life in the Royal Hobart Hospital after the Holden Barina she was travelling in crashed in Gagebrook on Saturday.

The crash occurred about 2am when the car, carrying six people, left Baskerville Rd and rolled several times.

A 59-year-old was killed on Friday when he came off his motorcycle on the Bass Highway at Elizabeth Town.

A teenage male motorbike rider was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Dawkins Rd, at Lower Beulah, in the state’s North just after midday on Saturday.

It followed a fatal crash on the Brooker Highway near the Elwick Rd intersection about 11pm on Friday. A 48-year-old Bridgewater motorcyclist died in the two-vehicle crash.

About 3pm yesterday a vehicle collided with a police car on the Brooker Highway in Lutana. Police were on their way to an incident nearby and travelling at low speed with full lights and sirens.

It came after a four-vehicle collision on the Southern Outlet about 8am. Nobody was seriously injured in either crash.
