Motorcylist killed in Brooker Highway crash, five youths injured in car rollover in Gagebrook

A HORROR 24 hours on Tasmania’s roads has resulted in the deaths of three motorcyclists and injuries to eight other people in a spate of crashes across the state.
About 12.30pm on Saturday, a teenage male motorcyclist died at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Dawkins Rd, at Lower Beulah, in the state’s North.
Tasmania Police is investigating the crash, about 18km southeast of Sheffield, and said a report would be prepared for the Coroner.
It followed crashes in the North and South of the state on Friday that resulted in:
THE DEATH of a 48-year-old Bridgewater man on the Brooker Highway near Elwick Rd on Friday night.
A 59-YEAR-OLD Outlaw Motorcycle Club member being killed near Elizabeth Town.
TWO other Outlaw riders being taken to the Launceston General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On Friday night, a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle was travelling on the Brooker Highway towards Bridgewater when it and a white Toyota Corolla sedan collided.
The rider could not be revived and died at the scene while the driver of the sedan, a 38-year-old Rosetta woman, was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital, where she remains in a serious condition.
The bike caught fire after the crash and was extinguished by nearby road workers.
Sergeant Rod Carrick said police had not yet questioned the driver but would speak to her as soon as possible.
It was the fourth fatality involving motorcycles in the past three weeks after a Claremont man crashed his motorbike into a railing at Orielton on September 25.
The latest fatalities take Tasmania’s road toll to 32.
Sergeant Debbie Williams said drivers must be alert for motorcyclists by ensuring they were paying attention to their surroundings and driving to the conditions.
Police are also calling for witnesses to a crash in Gagebrook early on Saturday morning that put a driver and five passengers in the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Police said a silver Holden Barina, being driven by a 16-year-old male, left Baskerville Rd and rolled several times.
Police said it was believed several of the passengers were not wearing seatbelts.
Factors such as speed and alcohol are currently being investigated.
A hospital spokesman said one female remained in a critical condition and the five males were stable.
