THE first live music festival in Tasmania since COVID-19 is bringing the heat across Hobart venues.
Crawstep guitarist Crystal Livermore said she couldn’t wait to team up with local musicians Randal Muir and Henry Nichols for a performance packed with funk and improvisation at Hot August Jazz.
“It definitely is a lot of fun because you don’t know what’s going to happen next,” she said.
“It’s like you’re conversing through music and hopefully to the audience as well, you want them to be a part of the ride.”
Ms Livermore said the free festival used multiple venues including Queens Head Hotel, Rain Check Lounge, Willing Bros Wine Merchants, Marigold Cafe, Republic Bar, The Crescent and Room for a Pony.
“It’s like a smorgasbord of Hobart jazz,” she said.
Acts on the line-up include Black Swans of Trespass, the Glass Half Fools and Saucy Jack and the Ripper Band.
Hot August Jazz runs from noon to midnight Sunday August 30.
The festival will be complemented by Cool August Blues at The Republic Bar from 4pm-10pm Saturday August 29.
