Party In The Apocalypse added more musical heavyweights to the current line-up to welcome news that dancing will be back for the festival, which has been set for December 27 – 28.

New additions to the line-up include Aria Award winners Pnau, Sydney dance music veterans Sneaky Sound System, and Jaguar Jonze.

Local favourite Medhanit, and a yet to be announced local Triple J Unearthed act will round out the list.

Sadly, four acts from the original line-up have had to cancel for the new dates including Methyl Ethel, Sly Withers, Teenage Joans and Noah Dillon.

Despite this, PITA organisers said they couldn’t be happier with the tight turnaround and introduction of the new bands.

“We’re stoked considering the tight turnaround and couldn’t be happier to include national dance headliner PNAU and crowd-party favourite Sneaky Sound System,” Artistic Director Jesse Higgs said.

“Jaguar Jonze is a super relevant act and will be sure to impress, and Medhanit is someone who we are really proud to see continue to grow on the big stage.”

Tasmanian festival goers will also get their first taste of post-Covid Camp entertainment chairs out and dancing is back in the mix.

”We’re excited to be the first major music festival to have dancing back on Tasmanian shores since early 2020,” Vibestown Director Ryan Limb said.

“The new date means that borders will be open and everyone coming home to Tassie for Christmas can celebrate with friends, let loose and enjoy themselves after a tough few years.”

Premier Peter Gutwein announced on Friday that restrictions on dancing and standing at events would be lifted as of December 6, as long as all patrons are vaccinated.

PITA Organisers encourage all ticket holders who aren’t vaccinated to book in now with only those who are fully vaccinated able to attend.

“There’s only five weeks to go, so if you need to book in now’s the time,” Mr Limb said.

Final tickets go back on sale 6pm Monday, November 22 and refunds will be available for those who can’t make the new dates.
