ANOTHER great white shark has been spotted in Tasmanian waters — 12 days after a 10-year-old boy was plucked from a boat by a 3.6m shark off Stanley.
Tasmania Police issued a warning on Wednesday morning that another shark had been spotted in Northern Tasmania.
Fishermen reported seeing the 3.4—4m great white near Tenth Island, off Beechford.
The reports said the shark was about 5-10kms offshore.
CSIRO scientists this week confirmed the shark that took young Lucas Arnott from the boat on which he was fishing with his father and two other men on July 17 was a great white.
The scientists came to that determination after studying the tattered lifejacket the boy was wearing during his terrifying ordeal.
The youngster, from Latrobe, is recovering from head, chest and arm injuries.
The shark let go of the boy after his father John Arnott jumped in the water.
The fishing party was about 5kms off Stanley when the shark attacked.
