DODGEM cars, show bags and fairy floss have featured among the much loved show weekend traditions so far at this year’s Hobart Mega Carnival, with extra sessions now added due to popular demand.
Emiliana Smith, 8, and Evie Steele, 6, enjoyed a day at the Showgrounds this year for the COVID-safe carnival replacing the Royal Hobart Show, which took a year off due to the pandemic.
The girls said they had “lots of fun”.
“My favourite thing at the carnival was getting the treats and riding the spinning elephants,” Evie said.
“We ate chips with sauce and salt.”
Emiliana loved the “big, bouncy” jumping castle and rollercoaster.
She said she would gladly go again, next time to conquer the “big swing that goes really high”.
Ruby Cantrell, 7, who attended with her friends and family enjoyed fairy floss, show bags and the “very fast” Gee Whizzer.
Hobart Mega Carnival’s initial morning, afternoon and evening sessions running from Thursday through to Sunday have all sold out given tighter attendance restrictions than previous Shows.
But organisers have released an extra round of sessions for next weekend, including 5-8pm on Friday October 30, 5.30-8.30pm on Saturday October 31, and 9.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm on Saturday October 31 and Sunday November 1.
Tickets are $2.50 each and can be purchased from the Hobart Mega Carnival website.
