A seven metre moon will illuminate a Queenstown limestone quarry as a live music line-up immerses Tasmania’s West-Coast in a celebration of culture and art this October.

Luke Jerram’s ‘Museum of the Moon’ will be showcased alongside visual art displays, performances, live music and other installations at this year’s Unconformity Festival.

The event runs from October 19 to 22.

Art director Travis Tiddy said this year’s festival is highly anticipated.

“Given the dramatic first-day cancellation of the 2021 festival, this year’s festival is a rare, and long awaited artistic experience,” he said.

“We’ve worked hard to create a diverse range of events and activities that tell the West Coast story and offer something meaningful for both local and visiting audiences.

“Developing an arts festival in Queenstown and on the West Coast, it’s such a singular place and so it doesn’t make sense to try replicate what we see elsewhere.”

Mr Tiddy added that the festival plays a key part in shaping the region’s future on the world stage.

“We really see it as being an interesting and important aspect of diversifying the future of the West-Coast.”

Keeping to the festivals tradition, The Unconformity Cup will see ‘the West take on the rest’ in a football match on Queenstown’s gravel oval to close out the four day festival.

More than 80 per cent of the festival is free to the public to enjoy but event organisers are encouraging festival goers to organise transport and accommodation in advance as Tasmanians flock to the internationally celebrated festival.

Tickets will be available to purchase on September 6.
