THE fluffiest dough and the freshest ingredients are what make Da Angelo pizza Tassie’s best.

The Battery Point restaurant topped the Mercury poll with voters deeming it the best pizza in the state.

Co-owner Marco Caporelli said he was thrilled the long-standing restaurant, which opened in 1994, had been recognised.

“We appreciate all our customers choosing us. We’re grateful for the all the local support.

“We have so many repeat customers and recommendations through word of mouth. We’re told we’re an institution for Hobart.”

Mr Caporelli said they take a lot of care making their pizzas, particularly the dough.

“We actually make it three or four times a day so it’s always fresh and that’s what makes it fluffy and nice.

“It’s the process of how we make our pizza. We use the freshest ingredients. And you have to have a good balance of ingredients.”

One of the most popular pizzas at Da Angelo is the chicken and brie as well as the jalapeño calzone.
