Bachelor in Paradise: Did Ciarran fool us all?

SUNDAY night’s Bachelor in Paradise finale saw Tasmania’s Conor Canning find love, with the real estate agent revealing all about testing out his new relationship in the real world.

Months after the season’s filming ended, Mr Canning and his now serious partner Mary Viturino have kept the sparks flying post-production, first trying long distance before Ms Viturino moved from Victoria to Tassie with her daughter Chanel, 6, who is now enrolled at Mount Carmel and playing weekend soccer.

Mr Canning said he hadn’t ever seen an episode of the Bachelor before he went on the show and if he had, he might have been too scared to apply.

“The first couple of days I thought ‘what have I done? This is crazy’,” he said.

“People were partying and carrying on.”

He said his initial blind date with Keira Maguire left him with doubts over whether he would continue to the next episode when Ms Viturino gave him her rose.

“When Mary let me know she was interested all of a sudden I felt more comfortable,” he said.

From there, the couple’s bond grew.

Ms Viturino’s largest concern was whether or not Mr Canning could handle dating a single mother.

Having grown up with a single mother himself and developing a strong connection with his stepdad, Mr Canning said he was more than happy to pursue a relationship with Ms Viturino.

“I love kids and I’ve always been keen to have a big family so to know that Mary had kids was a great thing,” he said.

The real estate agent said his family all “can’t get enough of Mary”, adding he gets along with Chanel “like a house on fire”.

He said he loved spending time with his “resilient” and “caring” new partner.

“My life previously was very business orientated, I was very regimented with my home life,” he said.

“[Mary has] made life a lot more interesting.

“I’m excited for our relationship to progress and I know how we both feel about looking at getting married in the future and having kids.

“To find someone on the same page is beautiful.”
