A Tasmanian man has appeared in court charged over a sex video featuring a brown trout

The Tasmanian couple who allegedly featured in a notorious sex video involving a trout have been named in court.

A man has appeared in a Hobart court on charges relating to a viral sex act video featuring a trout.

Ashley David Hallam, 55, and Catherine June Lee, 58, have each been charged with one count of making or reproducing a bestiality product and one count of possessing a bestiality product, being a video of sexual activity between a person, being Catherine Lee, and a brown trout.

Police say the alleged offences took place in Tasmania between February 1 2022 and January 25, 2023.

Mr Hallam appeared in the Magistrates Court on Friday and did not enter a plea.

Ms Lee did not appear because summonses were yet to be issued.

The case was adjourned to August 20.

The charges relate to a video which circulated the world and which featured a woman lying on a boat at sea while a male used a live trout to perform a sexual act on her.
