Falls Festival cancellation

ANOTHER popular Tassie festival staged on a vast rural property and responsible for bringing in big international and mainland acts will expand to cover two weekends early next year.

Promising to bring the festive vibes to Lone Star Valley near Wyena in the state’s north, A Festival Called Panama has kept its plans for 2021 tightly under wraps until now.

Each year audiences flock to the 50-acre spot for DJs, pop up markets, food stalls, musicians and storytellers at the beginning of Autumn.

Previous acts have included Thundercat, Sampa the Great, Grizzly Bear, Haitus Kaiyote and Methyl Ethel, but Panama 2021 is yet to reveal their newest line-up.

The festival has followed in Mona Foma’s footsteps stretching out its program into a double-weekend extravaganza.

Weekend one will last from 12pm Saturday March 6 to 12pm Monday March 8, while the second weekend will welcome patrons for another two nights from 12pm Friday March 12 to 12pm Sunday March 14.

The usual main stage will host a range of Tasmanian acts plus “one or two mainlanders” according to an email sent out to loyal Panama alumni.

Organisers have assured visitors they will receive a 90 per cent refund if COVID-19 or “something outside of our control” cancels the festival.

Those hoping to score tickets can enter the Panama ballot which will see lucky selected people receive a link to purchase tickets on January 9, but some ballot entrants might miss out.
