TASMANIA’S Department of Health has classified 14 new locations in Victoria as high risk effective immediately, while four people who visited exposure sites now await testing in Tasmania.

A public health statement confirmed over 8000 people in Tasmania who have recently been in Victoria have been contacted and advised to check the list of locations and call the Hotline if necessary.

Four people now in Tasmania discovered to have been in in the high-risk locations are now in quarantine and being tested.

A hallway monitor working in Victoria’s Australian Open hotel quarantine system has tested positive for coronavirus, sparking emergency restrictions from Thursday.

Amid fears he could have been infected by the UK super-strain, masks must now be worn indoors, private indoor gatherings have been reduced to 15 people and the move to increase the cap on office workers from Monday has been halted.

Anyone in Tasmania who has been at newly declared high-risk premises in Victoria is asked to self-isolate immediately and contact the Public Health Hotline on 1800 761 738 for advice.

The urgent investigation by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services has identified a number of contacts of the case in household and workplace settings, and eight public locations visited by the case when they were likely to have been infectious.

The specific locations have been declared high-risk locations by the Tasmanian Director of Public Health and includes the dates of Saturday January 30 to Monday February 1.

Anyone currently in Tasmania who has been in the hotspots above at the specified times, authorities urge you to self-isolate immediately and call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 after 9am today for further advice.

This list may change so check the webpage regularly if you were recently in Victoria.

People planning to travel to Tasmania will be required to confirm whether or not they have been at any of the high-risk locations at the specified dates and times.

People who have been at the locations at the specific times will be required to apply to the Deputy State Controller to enter Tasmania. If allowed to enter they will be required to quarantine for 14 days.
