A 21-year-old woman has lost her licence and will face court after an alleged road rage crash took place along a busy main road in Adelaide’s northern-suburbs on Monday night.
Police and emergency services were called to Main North Rd, Nailsworth, just before 10pm, after a silver sedan crashed into and ruptured a fire hydrant.
Footage of the incident captured by an eyewitness has been obtained by authorities, and shows a silver Ford sedan driving next to a blue sedan, before ramming the side of the car and crashing into a fire hydrant on the footpath.
The driver of the silver sedan told 7News Adelaide that the incident was sparked by a failed Facebook Marketplace shoe sale at a nearby McDonald’s.
The woman behind the wheel said she and a friend had arranged to meet a group of strangers at the fast food restaurant to sell a pair of shoes.
Her friend reportedly got into the buyers’ vehicle – described as a blue car – so they could drive to an ATM, but things took a turn when she believed her friend was being threatened, prompting her to follow the car along Main North Rd.
Police will allege that the silver sedan crashed into the side of a blue sedan, which did not stop at the scene, before colliding with the fire hydrant.
The blue sedan continued south on Main North Road.
Following investigations, a 21-year-old Para Hills woman, who was the driver of the silver sedan, was reported for driving in a manner dangerous to the public and issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence.
She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Anyone with information about the blue sedan or its driver is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
