Beachport man charged after another man assaulted, sustaining head and facial injuries

A man has been taken to hospital after an assault, with another man charged and set to face court.

A man has been hospitalised with head and facial injuries after an assault on the Limestone Coast on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the Southern Ports Highway at Beachport just after 2pm on Monday after reports were received of an assault.

SAPOL patrols arrived and located a 44-year-old man with significant injuries to his head and face.

He was treated at the scene by SA Ambulance crews and conveyed to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday, following investigations by Limestone Coast police, a 58-year-old local man was arrested and charged with assault causing harm.

He was refused police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Police said the incident was not random and the two men are known to each other.
