West Lakes masseur Fubo Jiang, 59, charged with raping client in Westfield store

A massage therapist working out of a major shopping centre has faced court for the first time charged with raping a client.

Alleged Westfield Centre massage rapist identified

The masseur charged with raping and indecently assaulting a client at parlour in a major shopping centre earlier this year has faced court for the first time, and can now be identified.

Fubo Jiang, 59 of Linden Park, stood silently in the dock of the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday morning as his lawyer Rachel Shaw told the court he did not understand English.

Mr Jiang has been charged with two counts of engaging in sexual intercourse with a person without consent and one count of indecent assault, with police alleging the offence occurred on January 2 in the western suburbs. The alleged victim was a client.

Following his arrest, he was released on police bail.

Ms Shaw told Magistrate Aaron Almeida that she had communicated with her client through his daughter, who was also present in court for the hearing.

She asked the court for a Mandarin interpreter to assist Mr Jiang at his next hearing in the Adelaide Magistrates Court, but said she had only just received paperwork from police about his alleged offending.

Mr Jiang will return to court in May.

Outside, he declined to answer questions about his charges, and wore a hat and a mask to hide his face.

The Advertiser understands a large police presence arrived at All Around Massage Shop in Westfield at West Lakes on the day of the alleged offending.

At the time, multiple business owners, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said they witnessed police officers reviewing CCTV belonging to the parlour while its staff waited outside.

All Around Massage resumed work after police left and continued operations on the next day.
