Unknown SA millionaire forfeits $1m division one prize to lottery commission

It’s enough to make you cry. A mystery South Australian millionaire has failed to claim their $1m lotto win for a whole year. Could it be you?

A mystery South Australian has unknowingly forfeited their unclaimed million dollar prize to the lottery commission.

A division one-winning unregistered ticket, purchased from a Mawson Lakes BP on Salisbury Highway on September 27, 2023, has now passed its collection date.

The Lott spokeswoman Anna Hobdell explained that the period for the mystery winner to claim their prize directly from The Lott has expired.

“Once the prize claim period of 12 months has passed, the unclaimed money is forfeited to the Lotteries Commission of South Australia, which has a prize claim process and associated administration costs,” she said.

“If the mystery winner discovers they’re holding the winning ticket, they must submit a South Australia Lotteries Prize Claim Form and Ex-Gratia Statutory Declaration Form to the Lotteries Commission of South Australia.

“It’s likely our mystery winner has (been) going about their year as normal with no idea they became an overnight millionaire more than a year ago.

“If the mystery winner had registered their ticket to a player card or online, they would have already been united with their million-dollar treasure.”

The fee to claim a prize with the commission is $22, which covers searches, due diligence checks and administration.

The winning numbers in Monday and Wednesday X Lotto draw 4325 last September 27 were 15, 41, 14, 35, 4 and 5, while the supplementary numbers were 20 and 37.
