27-year-old man arrested after fatal crash near Blanchetown

Police have arrested a 27-year-old man after a serious crash on the Sturt Highway near Blanchetown.

An arrest has been made in relation to a horror crash at Paisley on Thursday night, which took the life of a 43-year-old Somerton Park man.

A 27-year-old man from West Croydon has been arrested and charged with cause death by dangerous driving after Major Crash Investigators spent several hours examining the scene.

The man has been granted bail and will appear in the Waikerie Magistrates Court on July 3.

Police were alerted to the crash, between three cars and a truck on the Sturt Highway, just after 5.30pm on Thursday.

A 26-year-old woman from Swan Reach, who was driving a Holden sedan, was taken to the Angaston Hospital with minor injuries. The 27-year-old West Croydon male driver of a Nissan sedan was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The truck driver was not injured.

The Sturt Highway was closed to traffic but has since reopened.

Meanwhile, a 47-year-old motorcyclist from Berri died at the scene of a crash at Renmark West just after 5pm, also on Thursday.

Crews were called to the scene of a collision between a Yamaha motorbike and a Toyota HiLux on Ral Ral Ave.

Ral Ral Ave was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Major crash investigators are examining the circumstances of the crash.

The Riverland deaths are the 51st and 52nd lives lost on South Australian roads compared to 31 at the same time last year.
